Research in Motion is really starting to dabble into other “unconventional” form factors for the BlackBerry line. The Storm was the first touchscreen. The Torch the first slider. And the Style could be the first QWERTY flip phone.

Toshiba Folio 100 Android tablet gets official

This is the first Android tablet from Toshiba, and should it prove to be reasonably successful, I see no reason why we won’t be seeing a Folio 101 or Folio 110 somewhere in the very near future. In terms of this specific device, the Froyo-ness comes with Flash 10.1 support. That should help separate it a little more from the iPad too.

Canon is giving us a taste of the future with their latest creations shown at the Canon Expo 2010 in New York. They’ve created a monster 50 Megapixel shooter that can capture colors that the human eye cannot see. I’m guessing we just have to take their word for it.

I’m starting to dig some of these C-series phones from Nokia. Yes, they’re lower-spec’d compared to high-end smartphones, but they’re much more affordable and offer plenty of functionality. The latest to join the bunch are the Nokia C1-00 and Nokia C2, both of which are the first to support dual SIMs.

We love all the glorious things that our wonderful smartphones can do, but this functionality comes at the price of diminished battery life. Interestingly, a possible solution to this conundrum could be something called dark silicon, a technology that could effectively increase battery life up to eleven times.

As far as camera phones go, the iPhone 4 does a really good job at capturing the moment. Even so, when you stop to take that picture, you’re quite clearly holding up a mobile phone and not a real digital camera. Why not fool a few folks into thinking you have a snazzy Leica instead?
